Front Of House – Is It The Career For You?

It’s Springboard’s Front of House Festival 2016 this week, which has been created to raise the profile of job opportunities in front of house and the waiting profession, as well as the career paths, progression routes and great rewards on offer.

In our last blog we spoke to Roberto Castella, Operations Manager at LRS, and here we ask him to tell us a little more about what he does in his current role and how he helps the wider team provide clients with a five-star customer experience.

Roberto says his current role gives him the opportunity to share his experience with colleagues and the wider team. By sharing experiences he believes we’re able to draw on the very best and continue to move things forward by making things better and introducing new innovations in order to provide an excellent customer experience.

We asked Roberto what he believes the top three ‘musts’ are when working in a front of house role:

Enjoy what you do

If you don’t enjoy being in a front of house role it comes across in your interaction.

Be confident

Customers look to front of house staff for help so it’s important to be knowledgeable – not only about the business but also the local area.

Go the extra mile

Always look for that opportunity to go the extra mile – this makes all the different to the customer experience.

We also asked Roberto what the team look for in a new team member. He said, “When I recruit for a front of house role I look for enthusiasm, a strong passion for serving people and a positive attitude. If you have ‘can-do’ attitude, love working with people, and want a role that will give you endless job satisfaction then a front of house role could be the role for you.”
